Whimsy GiveAway!

Hi Folks!

Thought I should pop in and update the blog tonight...the Whimsy shop has been busy with Custom orders and the restocking of some of your favs! I should have the Bright Cupcakes pins, LadyBug pins and Bumble bee pins listed in the shop soon. (the next day or so!)

Whimsy Sighting ~ Georgia!

While having my Sunday coffee this morning I stumbled upon Georgia's blog....look at all the yummyness! I love her style...funky, but clean with lots of design elements! (not to mention Whimsies hehe!)

I have a couple of new scrappy friends visiting today, hoping to get a couple of Creative Scrappers DT Sketches complete and then hopefully some Custom Whimsy orders as well as new Black and White bird pins as I'm all out! Should be fun :)

Getting to know MLBOW DT Frances Sylvia!

Hi folks!

Frances was kind enough to answer my questions a few weeks ago, these are always to much fun!

How long have you been scrapbooking?

I officially started scrapbooking at the birth of my first daughter in 2001. It all began at a Creative Memories party where I spent way too much money, but I was diving in! From there, in 2005 I my BFF and she introduced me to the other spectrum of retail scrapbooking products...boy my bank account has been in trouble ever since!

What is your favourite color combination?

I would have to say that over all I love bright colors...so turquoise, red, orange, yellow...kinda random.

What is your favorite scrappy technique?

Right at this moment I am in absolute LOVE with making my own embellishments. I love creating something from nothing!


What is your biggest inspiration?

Hands down, my family. My process begins with a cute pic and just grows from there. Patterned paper plays a close 2nd.

Describe your style:

I hate this question...cause I really don't know. What I do know is that I love to layer, but I am not shabby. I love vintage, but not distressed. I love bright colors, with an occasional muted tone. See what I am saying...I don't really know! How about this...my style is to roll with it! I do whatever makes me smile when I am sitting at my craft table!

What is one thing you can't do a layout without?

Buttons...buttons...and more buttons! They are just the sweetest embellies (especially MLBOW buttons...hehe)!

Are you a messy or organized Scrapbooker?

Well, I begin organized, but as I work on a project a pile mysteriously grows in the corner of my craft table. Once I am finished, everything makes its way back to its designated space...so a little of both I guess.

How long does it take for you to finish a layout?

It just depends. I have really tried this past year to stop putting parameters on my creativity. I just try to roll with it! So at times it may take 4 hours to 2 days...it doesn't matter to me, just love the time I get to spend enjoying my hobby!

What music are you listening to, right now?

Lovin some Jay Z Empire State , everything Lady Antebellum, and always Van Morrison...also, pretty random.

What is your favourite Movie (s) (I have more than one, you may as well)

All time...Steel Magnolias. There is just something about some fiesty Southern women that amuses me, and not to mention you get a good cry in at the end of the movie...I just love being a girl!

Getting to Know MLBOW DT Kathleen Glossop!

I thought it would be nice to have Kat answer a few scrappy questions, give us all a chance to get to know her better :)

How long have you been scrapbooking?

About 5 years now I think! But more seriously since my son was born nearly 3 years ago J

What is your favourite color combination?

Red, blue, green, yellow, orange – oh gosh, can I just say bright primary colors!!?? Hrmmm….if I had to pick, red and blue J

What is your favourite scrappy technique?

Atm, machine sewing I think, fabric, paper, chippie’s, whatever’s in the way!

What is your biggest inspiration?

My son, I know, clichéd, but he really makes me smile, he catches my attention and makes me happy, so I always try to create something that will make you smile when you look at it.

Describe your style.

Ummmm….freestyle I think? I love layers, dimension, little details, texture….that’s freestyle right? Maybe?

What is one thing you can't do a layout without?

Wine :D lol – no seriously, ummmm, paint, I think so long as I have paint I can alter/texture/layer – yep, paint J

Are you a messy or organized Scrapbooker?

Messy!!!! By the end of a page my 2 x 1.5 m desk is completely covered, I can never find my paper piercer, and I can’t for the life of me remember where my needle nose pliers are…(attached a photo from last night as proof ;) )




How long does it take for you to finish a layout?

About two hours usually

What music are you listening to, right now?

Listening to the TV atm, but last song I heard was “Blah Blah Blah” – love it!!

What is your favourite Movie (s) (I have more than one, you may as well)

Pirates of the Caribbean, and Fast & the Furious J

Whimsy Sighting ~ Melanie Stanczyk

Take a look at the adorable layout by Melanie Stanczyk!!! It's so fun and Whimsical (pardon the pun! hehe) I love how she put the bird pins in her tree like that....and that cute little mushroom tucked into the bottom :)

Whimsy Sighting ~ Kristine Davidson... and a Blinkie Winner!

Well, this wasn't exactly a "Stumbled Upon" Whimsy sighting LOL Kristine Davidson is my best scrappy friend. We met in early 2008 when I was just getting into the hobby, and soon discovered we were kindred spririts and both as crazy about scrapbooking as the other! I don't think I've met anyone else who can list off manufacturers, or identify papers and embellies like her! (except for me!) Our tastes are slightly different, she's a classy scrapper with some awesome design elements...whereas I'm a bit funkier and wilder, and tend to break the *design* rules alot hehehe (sometimes I do it right in front of her just to get a reaction hehehe...me sassy? Never! hehe)

Since I've moved to Halifax though, I don't get to spend any time with her, oh how I miss our Saturday Night Scrapping sessions! These days we stay in touch with Skype and the occasional New Brunswick Crop and lots and lots of email! :)

Check out some of her beautiful work.... and be sure to keep your eyes peeled for her minis albums, love them all!

Hi Folks!
I'm still here!!! I seem to be over the worst part of my cold...no longer talking like a chipmunk LOL I didn't have much energy to make any Whimsies or even scrapbook, so nothing new to show you today. Just thought I'd pop in and say hello, and thank you for all your kind notes :) It wasn't anything serious, just a head cold that seems to be going around the office like wildfire these past couple of weeks!

Hoping to get my clay makin' mojo back tomorrow night, I'll keep you posted! In the meantime, the countdown is on for the Whimsy DT reveal scheduled for March 15th! Can't wait!

Whimsy R&D...

Hi Whimsy Folks! Here's a little Sneaky for you!

I should have these listed in the shop in the next couple of days (assuming this cold of mine doesn't get worse! Yikes)

This past week, I thought I'd lost my clay mojo...just wasn't feeling myself. One morning as I was walking to work I looked down to make sure I remembered to put pants on! LOL Now that's usually a sign that I'm not feeling well! hehe (rationally, I realize that Dave would be quick to point out if I was on my way to work without pants...but it didn't stop me from looking down at my legs in the parking lot to be sure hehe)

So after a few days of migraines, I woke up this morning with a cold. Go figure...my first vacation day of 2010 and I have a cold....Isn't that always the way?

So this weekend will be a relaxing one...lots of fluids, a few movies and a warm blanket!
